HEAT Software (formerly Lumension) is pleased to announce that Endpoint Management and Security Suite (E.M.S.S.) v8.3 is now available. We have incorporated feature enhancements across all modules in this E.M.S.S. v8.3 release, including:

  • Patch Management module: added a “Do Not Patch” capability to protect specific endpoints or groups from updates which may cause a business interruption.
  • Application Control module: simplified policy management and added Trusted Updater rules engine enhancements.
  • Device Control module: added extended support for mobile devices such as charging-only mode, read-only option, file shadowing and copy limits; also added print shadowing and keylogger detection capabilities.
  • AntiVirus module: improved protection against Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) and rootkits, and improved performance with new configuration options.
  • Performance improvements include: improved performance and integrity of Patch content downloads, and improved server performance when processing DAUs.
  • General improvements include: support for Windows 10 (Professional, Education, Enterprise and Enterprise 2015 LTSB editions) and Windows Embedded 8.1 (Industry Pro and Industry Enterprise versions); extended support for Windows XP and Server 2003 systems (subject to 3rd party support limitations).

Learn more about all the new E.M.S.S. v8.3 features and capabilities at our What's New in v8.3 page, or in the Release Notes in the documentation section here in the Customer Portal, or in KnowledgeBase article KB1742.

NOTE: In the E.M.S.S. v8.2 release, we switched to a new AV engine. Definition files for the legacy Lumension® AV engine stopped in July 2015. Therefore, it is imperative that customers using legacy versions of AntiVirus migrate immediately. Please visit the AntiVirus Transition Resource Center for more information.

Take advantage of these important new capabilities by updating your servers and endpoints today!

IMPORTANT: End of Support for Lumension® Endpoint Management and Security Suite

Per the Lumension® Product Support Lifecycle Policy (KB 403), Lumension® Endpoint Management and Security Suite (L.E.M.S.S.) v7.0 went into Self-support on December 2, 2012 and L.E.M.S.S. v7.1 went into Self-support on April 30, 2014.

Please note that L.E.M.S.S. v7.2 will go into Self-support on July 17, 2015.

UPGRADE TODAY! Learn more about upgrading your servers and endpoints to L.E.M.S.S. v8.2 at our Upgrade Center page to take advantage of important new capabilities, including expanded patch content.

Expanded Patch Content Now Available

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of expanded Windows 3rd party application patch content for all current Lumension® Patch and Remediation customers. We are continuing to add coverage for new vendors and products to our GSS feed – see the Supported Third-Party Application page to see the latest list.

Please note that in order to take advantage of this expanded content, the L.E.M.S.S. server and endpoint agent version must both be at v7.2 or later. In addition, with this expanded content release, Lumension has discontinued 3rd party application patches for L.E.M.S.S. v7.1 agents and earlier. As a result, any endpoints running L.E.M.S.S. v7.1 or earlier agent versions will no longer receive new 3rd party application patch content. While these endpoints may appear to be fully up-to-date, they will be increasingly vulnerable over time as additional vulnerabilities are identified. Please refer to the Lumension Upgrade Center for information on upgrading your servers and/or endpoints.

Customers can request new application coverage on the Lumension Product Feature Request – be sure to select “Lumension Patch and Remediation Content Request” from the Product drop-down.
